Very sorry to hear about the loss of Vic McCarty t Very sorry to hear about the loss of Vic McCarty today. One of my favorite parts of doing the morning show with Heather in Northern Michigan was all the fun personalities we would find to be part of the show. Vic was one of those, the 3 of us could really feed off each other. Every Friday he would read lyrics for Newsman Name that Tune.

On this particular Friday, I had just announced I was leaving KHQ, we just had our Christmas party at the boss' house, and we were giving away tickets to an all male review. It was layer after layer of fun topics to feed into the feature.

Audio is included in the video. Rest in peace, Vic.
We had to say goodbye to our lovely Greyhound, Bad We had to say goodbye to our lovely Greyhound, Bady, today. She was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. I never thought a Greyhound and Pitbull would get along so well when they met, but what started out as a relationship where both Bady and Swanson avoided each other, turned into a beautifully quiet friendship.

While were were away, Swanson would run the house while Bady would mostly occupy the office with a baby gate. More often than not, when we'd come home Swanson would have his bed pulled up next to the gate so he could sleep near her. When Swanson passed, Bady was clearly upset. I came home after the vet to love on her a bit, and the whimper was something I've never heard before. Anyway, I believe they made it back to each other and we will forever miss her.

What started out as a bonus to a new relationship ended up being a true family bond.

Still working out some details, some bugs, figuring out playlist items, and eventually better imaging. The further down the rabbit hole I get with this the better it sounds. The goal is to clear as many FMs as possible. 😎 Heavy 90s with some early 2k, though the tweaks made for the next few shows are much heavier on 90s.

Here’s a fun one from the Josh and Heather morning Here’s a fun one from the Josh and Heather morning show! This one has a few layers!

One of the favorite weekly features was having Vic McCarty on for Newsman Name That Tune. Vic was given lyrics (often spicy) and would deliver them with his fancy news voice, listeners had to guess the song. This one stumped everyone. The cover photo you see of Vic and I on the Josh and Heather Booze Cruise!

Also featured in this clip is our recap of Heather showing Fish and me how to drive a stick shift. The backstory is that station management got a great deal on a new fleet vehicle after our van blew an engine pulling a pontoon boat around all summer. The problem was, and this is no joke, they bought a stick shift for all of us to drive. The lesson went great for Fish; I squealed the tires a few times. BTW I never did drive it after this. (Link to the actual video of this is below).

Finally, and this one was a surprise, toward the end Heather and I discovered “What Does the Fox Say” while watching the Today Show. We call our boss, Bill Michaels, live on air to beg him not to make us play it. Bill was always great at playing along with us on the air, and I think putting him on the spot made him feel right at home!

**SOUND ON** Okay, let’s do another one from the **SOUND ON**

Okay, let’s do another one from the Josh and Heather Morning Show on KHQ from back in the day! Honestly, after listening to this, I have NO CLUE how Heather did it on the mornings I came in wired.

So, a couple of things about this one:
• This was Heather’s birthday
• I was wired
• This was a time when every town had a giant hole in the middle of it (NBC's Parks and Rec was built on this), it was a huge deal in Petoskey at the time along with some fire pit drama in our neighboring town. There was always fun drama in Northern Michigan to poke fun at!
• We did literally everything live or live-to-tape—there was almost no production in any of this. Our calls were mostly recorded so no one dropped the F-bomb, but we did very little editing on them, if any. What you heard was always exactly as it happened.
• We always had an outline for the show, but the best shows ALWAYS left the outline in the dust.
• There was a time when we all collectively (consciously or subconsciously) stopped caring what upper management was going to say or do—and those were the absolute best shows.

Enjoy!!
(***Sound on**) Recently, I've had a TON of time t (***Sound on**)
Recently, I've had a TON of time to sit back and reflect and really operate with almost zero stress. I 100% believe that if you push yourself too much and don't take a step back, you'll be forced to in some way, shape, or form. Thankfully, what has forced me to the sideline is incredibly minor (yet pretty annoying).

Anyway, one thing I realized is that I've been grinding for almost 25 years with no real break. That puts me back to high school. I've been on my medically forced break since 12/9.

While things are quiet, my mind always goes back to a time in my life that I didn't fully understand or appreciate. Don't get me wrong, personally, things are GREAT now, but there was a time the stress that I carried, though very little, was washed away with 4 hours of goofing off with my morning show partner, connecting with thousands of people, building a community of listeners, and just enjoying a group of real people who came together for some fun.

When I think of the best time in my life, I think of the 5 years I spent doing morning radio in northern Michigan. It's something I've tried to replicate with my various projects, but it will never happen. It's like that time when you made the chili PERFECT, you don't know what you did, you just did it and had all the right ingredients.

If I could connect what I have personally now to what I had socially/professionally then I think that might be bliss. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

For those who are still following, this is a clip I found of the Josh and Heather morning show on KHQ. We'd start the morning with some BS, take calls, and on this day Psychic Tammy Schuster came in to do readings. Tammy was part of our cast, along with many others.

Basically, if you came within 6 feet of the studio, you were likely on air with us at some point.

Enjoy.
