Okay, deep breaths… but I am seriously freaking out over here.
NBCUniversal just dropped a massive announcement, and if you’re a fan of The Office like I am (and I mean superfan—I’ve seen the entire series at least 200 times), you’re going to love this.
A brand-new show called The Paper is coming to Peacock this September… and it’s set right here in Toledo, Ohio!
If you haven’t heard yet, The Paper is a mockumentary-style comedy from The Office creator Greg Daniels and Michael Koman (who worked on Nathan For You and Conan’s late-night show). It follows the same in-universe documentary crew from Dunder Mifflin—only now they’ve moved west from Scranton to Toledo to follow the wild story of a struggling newspaper called The Truth Teller as it’s brought back to life.
I mean… COME ON. A The Office-style show, set in Toledo, created by the actual team behind the original? It’s like comfort food for the soul. The Office got me through some of the hardest moments of my life. When I needed to decompress, laugh, or just feel normal again, it was always there. (Honestly, sometimes it felt like the cast knew me better than some of my own family.)
What’s even cooler is that this isn’t just some generic “set in Ohio” thing—Toledo is actually being represented! According to WTOL 11, FilmToledo worked with the production team to make sure the details feel authentic. They even helped source real Toledo brands, stories, and memorabilia. And if you’re a fan of local gear like I am, get this: Jupmode—yes, our Jupmode—is making an appearance in the show!
The cast is stacked, too: Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), and returning Office fave Oscar Nuñez will all be part of it. Plus, a killer supporting cast with Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, and more.
Honestly, I’m already planning my rewatch of The Office (for the 201st time) just to get ready. I don’t know exactly how The Paper will land, but with this crew and this much heart, I’m so ready to find out.
Let’s go, Toledo. Let’s go, Peacock. Let’s go, Truth Teller.
I’ll be watching.
Plus OSCAR IS BACK!!!!
