Each month on The whatsajosh Broadcast, we spotlight a standout video from one of my passion projects — The Paranormal Exploring Project. It’s our way of connecting the dots between everything I do: radio, video, storytelling, and a little bit of ghost hunting.

This month, we’re going back to where everything leveled up for the channel: our first full investigation at The Cottonwood Inn in Empire, Michigan.

If you’ve listened to the show recently, you’ve heard me talk about it. This was the night where the Paranormal Exploring Project became more than just a side hobby — it became something we had to keep doing.

Why the Cottonwood?

The Cottonwood Inn is one of those places that feels haunted before you even know the backstory. And the story? Let’s just say it has layers. From strange deaths to disappearances that still raise questions, this quiet northern Michigan property hides some chilling history beneath its charm.

We didn’t just walk in with a flashlight and hope something spooked us — we did our research. A key part of this story was our sit-down interview with Dave Taghon, a respected local historian who generously shared his knowledge about the Roen brothers, including Severt’s mysterious disappearance and the tragic discoveries that followed. Dave passed away earlier this year, and we’re forever grateful for his time and insight. Without him, this episode wouldn’t have had the emotional weight or historical grounding that makes it so special.

What We Found Inside

Joined by psychic medium Tammy Schuster and our friend Dawn, we documented one of our most active nights ever. Shadow figures, direct responses, strange energy shifts — it all unfolded across multiple rooms in the inn. And for the first time, we started to feel like something (or someone) wanted to tell their story through us.

This wasn’t just a scary night with cool gear. It was personal. And it changed the way we approach every investigation that followed.

Watch the Full Investigation

If you’ve never seen one of our deep-dive investigations, this is the one to start with. It’s the most viewed video on the Paranormal Exploring Project YouTube channel — and for good reason. It’s emotional, intense, and grounded in real history.

And if you’re already a fan of the whatsaJosh Broadcast, know that this video is part of the same storytelling energy — just with a lot more night vision and haunted attics.

Thanks for being part of both worlds. Whether you’re tuning in to the radio show or watching us explore the paranormal, it means a lot.

Stay curious,
Josh
