I might be a little late to the party on this one, but did you know ESPN8 “The Ocho” is actually real?

If you’ve seen the 2004 movie Dodgeball, you probably remember “The Ocho” as the over-the-top sports network airing the most ridiculous competitions—dodgeball, cherry pit spitting, extreme pogo… you name it. It was a hilarious joke. But guess what? It’s not just a joke anymore!

On Sunday, while flipping through the live channels on Amazon Prime, I randomly stumbled upon a cornhole tournament—on The Ocho! I did a double take. Yep, “The Ocho” is a real thing!

According to Wikipedia, ESPN launched an official ESPN8 free streaming channel in December 2023 on ABC.com and the ABC app. By April 2024, it expanded into Canada as TSN The Ocho. And later in 2024, as ABC phased out its app, “The Ocho” found a new home on The Roku Channel.

So yeah—what started as a fictional network for wacky sports is now an actual, real-life place for wacky sports. And honestly? I love that for us.
